Bird, Savage & Bird certificate of receipt, 1795.

Certificate of receipt issued by Bird, Savage & Bird, for a shipment of goods from the United States sent by the New York firms of Murray & Mumford and Leffingwell & Pierpont, signed and dated August 25, 1795. Document includes a detailed inventory of the goods-- textiles, coffee and cinnamon-- and a signed, sworn statement from ship's masters Obediah Congers and Nathaniel Noyes, as well as American consul Joshua Johnson. A second signed statement from Johnson includes an embossed wax and paper seal.
